According to Medical Symptoms Guide, inflammatory heart disease is the result of the heart muscle or the tissues encircling the heart becomes irritated, injured, or infected and the body responding to the infection, irritation, or injury by swelling up that area in order to protect the organ. There are many risk factors that may contribute to inflammatory heart disease. Some examples given by Medical Symptoms Guide include; a heart that has experience surgery, trauma or an attack, connective tissue that has had sarcoidosis or rheumatoid arthritis, some cancers may also contribute, metabolic disorders like hypothyroidism and kidney failure, a viral or bacterial infection, the reuse of needles, or a congenital heart defect (Medical Symptoms Guide). There are not may steps one could take in order to avoid these risk factors, most of them are out of our control for example, we cannot protect our heart from traumas and attacks, we cannot control whether or not our connective tissue becomes diseased, there is no way to avoid cancer, and a congenital heart defect is believed to be genetic. The only risk factor that we can do our best to avoid is not sharing needles.
